Adventist General Conference Is More Than Business

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is about a month away from opening its World General Conference session.  The session is an 11-day event and will happen in Atlanta Georgia.

But the session will include more than just business.  It will also include a number of related events like the 8th annual SONscreen film festival.

Attendees will also have access to a 5/10K run on June 27 called Adventist Race for Health.  The Adventist church, according to the Adventist News Network, seeks to raise awareness of health in Atlanta.

There will also be two sports tournaments.  One tournament will be at Berean Christian Junior Academy and the other at Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy.  Golf enthusiasts will can go to the Stone Mountain Golf Club for a golf tournament.

Ministers and leaders will be able to attend Innovative Impact 2010 to learn more effective ways to minister.  Professional Fundraisers also can attend a special training seminar.  In addition, the Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries will have a number of sessions to train chaplains.

The Adventist church also will seek to encourage young adult involvement in their communities through an initiative called “Impact Atlanta.”

The Adventist General Conference occurs once every five years.

  1. This is a once-in-five years event. I am from the Philippines and this will be my third time to attend a world session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. This is really more than doing church business–it is also a spiritual convocation of God’s people from all over the world that certainly makes one attendee long for another event like this.
