Shaquille O’Neal Signs With The Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have Re-loaded by signing future Hall Of Famer Shaquille O’Neal.

This will be O’Neal’s sixth team as he has played for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and now the Boston Celtics.

O’Neal hopes to add to his four NBA Championships by drawing the double teams that Celtics Starting Center Kendrick Perkins can’t. This will open up the floor for the sharpshooting of Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.

“It is not every day that you can add a player of Shaquille’s caliber to your team,’’ said Celtics president Danny Ainge in a statement. “His past experience speaks for itself and we believe that he is a great fit for our roster, so we’re very excited that he is joining the Celtics family.

“I remember in 1985, we signed Bill Walton, and his addition put us over the top. We feel that with the addition of Shaq, we’ll have one of the best front lines in the league, and, when Kendrick Perkins returns, the deepest.”

Earlier according to some reports, O’Neal wanted a two year $10 million dollar contract. However, he signed with the Celtics for the league veteran minimum exemption. The contract will pay Shaq 2.8 million dollars over two years.

Last season O’Neal averaged 12 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
